Butchers Hill is a diverse residential neighborhood in the City of Baltimore, Maryland, USA.  Butchers Hill is located a few blocks North of Fells Point, on the West side of Patterson Park and one mile East of the Inner Harbor.  The world famous Johns Hopkins Hospital is to the Northwest.  To learn more visit the Butchers Hill Association Web Site.

~~On a warm spring afternoon, Patterson Park is populated with hundreds of familiar strangers.  These "strangers" are aware of the other runners, dog walkers, in-line skaters, ball players, bass fishers, power walkers, Frisbee throwers and sun bathers.  No formal exchange of proper names is needed.  Simply the sharing of a smile and an appreciation for the new rays of Spring are all that is necessary to create a community from the diverse participants.  For some, the passive sport of viewing a Little League game from a park bench offers plenty of vernal exertion.  Some might even notice the woman who makes holupki for the Greek Orthodox church.
    As a visual artist, I am interested in utilizing photography and traditional painting and drawing media to communicate the panorama of the rich, quirky, strange and familiar urban environment that is Baltimore.
